He is also a well-respected and legendary music educator with multi-decade tenure with both the Penfield, NY school district and the Eastman School. Jim left Tritone in 2015 because his new position as director of Eastman’s Institute for Music Leadership no longer left his summers open. Now retired from that position, he is looking forward to working with Tritone campers once again in 2024 and we’re delighted to have him.

Clay Jenkins (trumpet) is Professor of Jazz Studies & Contemporary Media at the Eastman School of Music. He can be heard on three live albums with the Stan Kenton Band, Artistry in Symphonic Jazz, A Time for Love, and The Lost Concerts, Vols. I & II. Her most recent CD on Motema, The Royal Bopsters Project, features a vocal jazz quartet with Ms London as leader and soprano; Holli Ross, swinging alto; the legendary Darmon Meader, tenor; and Dylan Pramuk, bass. Her two previous critically acclaimed CD’s on Motema as a leader, ‘Let’s Fly’ and ‘When I Look In Your Eyes’ feature some of the world’s top jazz musicians, and have led her to engagements in Russia, Italy, Turkey, France, Brazil, England, Belgium, Czechoslovakia and Canada, as well as cities across the US. Amy London has been teaching voice since 1984. She has been faculty at New School University’s Jazz BFA program since 1992, and is one of the principal architects of the highly successful vocal department there. She has taught at City College, CUNY, NYC, and has led vocal jazz workshops nationally and internationally, for the IAJE, JEN and a variety of summer jazz camps.

Darmon Meader (voice) Recognized in both the jazz vocal and instrumental worlds, Darmon Meader is a highly respected vocalist, arranger and saxophonist who has achieved international recognition as the founder, musical director, chief arranger, composer, producer, saxophonist, and vocalist with New York Voices. WHAT TO BRING

  • Music notebook and pencils.

  • Earplugs if you think you need them. We aren’t generally loud, but large ensembles can be irritating to those with sensitive hearing.

  • Charts. We supply all the music you'll need for camp-related stuff, but you might want to bring a fake book to use in jam sessions, practice sessions, and possibly combos. Many campers use the iRealPro app, available for smartphones, tablets, and computers.

  • Your Instrument(s). You won't need them Sunday night, but you will starting Monday morning. Guitarists and bassists, please bring everything you need, including amplifier. Drummers, please bring your set unless you've made previous arrangements with us; rental sets are available. Pianists, you've got it easy; just bring yourself.

  • A recording device to capture your performance in rehearsals or concerts. Hearing yourself is one of the best ways to improve your playing or singing.

  • For Dormies. You will be staying in Clock Tower Commons. This is one of the newer dorms on campus, so it’s air-conditioned and quite nice. You’ll have a private bedroom, sharing a full bath with the camper next door. The linen package consists of two bed sheets, one blanket, one pillow, one pillow case, two bath towels and one washcloth. Nazareth does not provide soap, shampoo, or drinking cups, so please bring your own toiletries. Wi-fi is available all over campus, and the library has computers you can use to check e-mail, etc. Check-in is anytime after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, June 16.

MEALS

If you've purchased the meal package, you’ll get your buffet meals in the Dining Commons. Enter through the right-hand door of the Medaille (pronounced mud-EYE) dorm. Just steps away is Tritone’s private dining room, the Medaille Dining Hall. Your first meal will be at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. If you’re not on the meal plan, Nazareth has a snack bar and the nearby village of Pittsford offers a wide array of restaurants within walking distance from campus.
